Kaplan University Graduates Celebrate Around the Country

From California to Maine, Kaplan University schools and campuses continue to celebrate the accomplishments of the thousands of men and women who have graduated so far in 2012. We congratulate all of these grads for their hard work, dedication, and accomplishment—and look forward to celebrating with those of you set to graduate in the second half of the year!

Here are some highlights from recent graduation ceremonies...

Kaplan University, Maine Campuses

A full house cheered on as 325 graduates of Kaplan University’s South Portland and Lewiston campuses crossed the stage of the historic Merrill Auditorium in downtown South Portland. Maine's Governor, the Honorable Paul LePage, was the keynote speaker for the June 9 ceremony.

Concord Law School

On March 3, an overflow crowd of family and friends applauded the 106 graduates of Concord’s 17th graduating class. The winter 2012 graduating class included 62 graduates of the Juris Doctor program and 44 who earned an Executive Juris Doctor. This November will mark the 10th anniversary of Concord’s first graduation ceremony.

Kaplan University, Hagerstown Campus

The Hagerstown campus celebrated the graduation of 243 students on May 17, with approximately 150 participating in the ceremony. Two members of the graduating class, Steven Black and Sid Stambaugh, delivered commencement addresses. The guest speaker was Kristen Stutsman, a 2004 Hagerstown graduate who was named “Distinguished Alumni of the Year.” The ceremony featured the Barbara Ingram Women's Vocal Jazz Ensemble as well as the presentation of the colors by the Marines in Company B, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.

Kaplan University, Council Bluffs Campus

Iowa State Representative Mark Brendenburg addressed the 43 graduates and their proud families at the April 20 graduation ceremony in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Alicia Shumate was the student speaker.

Kaplan University, Davenport Campus

Nearly 1,100 guests attended the April 27 graduation celebration at the RiverCenter in Davenport, Iowa, celebrating the graduation of 129 students.

Kaplan University, Cedar Rapids Campus

On May 11, the Cedar Rapids campus celebrated its first class of Associate of Science in Nursing graduates. Dale Todd, a local community activist, delivered the commencement address.

Kaplan University, Des Moines Campus

The May 4 Des Moines campus ceremony saw the school’s first-ever hooding ceremony for students earning their master’s degrees. The campus also graduated its first class of Associate of Science in Nursing students.

On February 24, Mason City campus grads took their final walk across the stage. Brent Willett, Executive Director of the North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corporation, was the keynote speaker.

Kaplan University, Omaha Campus

More than 1,250 cheered on as the 110 graduates received their degrees at the April 27 graduation ceremony in Omaha. The speaker for the event was John Ewing, who has been a public servant in Omaha, Nebraska, for nearly 30 years and is currently running for U.S. Congress.

Kaplan University, Cedar Falls Campus

Janet Adams gave the commencement address at the February 24 Cedar Falls campus graduation ceremony. Mrs. Adams is the current mayor of Webster City, Iowa, and the Chair of the Iowa College Student Aid Commission.
